There are around 24 boutique wineries in the Nelson Tasman region and several, including Neudorf, Kahurangi and Woollaston, are within 25 minutes of Edenhouse.
Neudorf is “New Zealand’s greatest wine producer” according to Tom Stevenson’s UK publication “Wine Report 2009”. Stevenson has been writing about wine for twenty years and he is the author of the prestigious Sotheby’s Wine Encyclopaedia.
This vineyard was created in 1978 and the owners, Tim and Judy Finn, were told by their bank to think about raising sheep, there was no future in wine! However Neudorf has grown into the most stunning vineyard and is located 15 minutes from Edenhouse in an idyllic setting for tastings and picnics. It’s a great way to experience a model New Zealand vineyard and “some of the finest wines in the Southern Hemisphere”.
The accolades keep rolling in from such highly regarded experts as Jancis Robinson and Hugh Johnson. In August 2009 Neudorf won the Tri Nations trophy for White Wine of the Show at the annual, hotly contested, tasting between the best wines from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
Guests are welcome to join us at concerts and gigs at Neudorf over the summer months.
